چکیده

The temperature distributions of heated turbulent jets of air were determined using two dimensional (planar) laser induced phosphorescence. The jets were heated to specific temperature increments, ranging from 300 - 850 K and several Reynolds numbers were investigated at each temperature. The spectral ratio technique was used in conjunction with thermographic phosphors BAM and YAG:Dy, individually. Single shot and time averaged results are presented as two dimensional stacked images of turbulent jets. YAG:Dy did not produce a high enough signal for single shot measurements. The results allowed for a direct comparison between BAM and YAG:Dy, revealing that BAM is more suitable for relatively lower temperature, fast and turbulent regimes and that YAG:Dy is more suited to relatively higher temperature, steady flow situations.

Molecular tagging thermometry for transient temperature mapping within a water droplet.

We present the progress made in developing a molecular tagging thermometry (MTT) technique for achieving spatially and temporally resolved temperature measurements within a small water droplet over a solid surface. For MTT measurement, a pulsed laser is used to tag phosphorescent 1-BrNp.Mbeta-CD.ROH molecules premixed with water. Long-lived laser-induced phosphorescence is imaged at two success...

Heat Transfer under Double Turbulent Pulsating Jets Impinging on a Flat Surface

In this study, the numerical analysis of turbulent flow and heat transfer of double pulsating impinging jets on a flat surface has been investigated. The unsteady two-dimensional numerical solution for two similar and dissimilar jets was performed using the RNG k-ε model. The results showed that the RNG k-ε model has more satisfactory predictions of the Nusselt number distribution. Comparisons ...

Molecular tagging thermometry with adjustable temperature sensitivity

We report an extension to the technique of molecular tagging thermometry which allows for adjustable temperature sensitivity. The temperature dependence of laser-induced phosphorescence of the water-soluble phosphorescent triplex (1-BrNp MbCD ROH) is used to conduct temperature measurements in aqueous flows. It is shown that the temperature sensitivity of phosphorescence intensity can be adjust...

Laser-induced incandescence and multi-line NO LIF thermometry for soot diagnostics at high pressures

Laser-induced incandescence (LII) is investigated in laminar premixed flat ethylene/air flames at pressures up to 5 bar in a recently constructed high-pressure burner. Time-resolved LII signals were compared with a numerical model considering the influence of pressure on the LII signal decay. Peak particle temperatures after laser heat up were measured by the detection of the LII signal at two ...
